About Us

GEM COSMOJen Character

My name is Gem Cosmo. I grew up on the West Coast.  The only thing I could remember when it came to spirituality was organized religion.  As a young child, being able to see visions and hear voices, I knew I was different.  Knowing very little about spirituality, I just didn’t know how to tell anyone.  I was raised Catholic and attended private school where they scare you into thinking that if one sat on the same toilet after a boy one could get pregnant.  Throughout much of my life, I knew something was missing but didn’t really figure it out until much later on in adult life.  Although I spent many years in traditional therapy in the hopes of resolving my issues from my childhood,  I felt something was missing and that traditional therapy and medication treatment were not sufficient.   Back in the day, we did not have the luxury of the Internet, with its wealth of information on every obscure topic imaginable.  We had the dewey decimal system at the local public library. Every search pulled up from the card catalog was a book on an organized, known religious topic, not psychic ability.  Nothing I researched could help explain the voices in my head or the visions I saw.  Only after connecting with my friend, Jade Hunter, Soul Sister Spin co-founder, did I finally realize that it was time to start my spiritual journey.  As we wish to create a safe space for readers to anonymously explore, connect and be free, we refrain from asking your names. The one thing we ask is to please remember that everyone’s spiritual journey is unique and different.

JADE HUNTER

I am your typical Washingtonian.  Like many of my neighbors, I arrived to DC as a transplant from somewhere else.  Originally from the West Coast, I slowly found myself anchored to the East after finishing college, starting a family and growing a business taking care of the region’s furry, finned and feathered animals. I have three incredibly intrepid children.  Every time they shine, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be given the gift of motherhood.  As a political refugee from Vietnam, I appreciate my unique cultural background, am at once rooted to the Motherland while at the same time, honored to call America my home, forever grateful for all the freedoms bestowed upon me as a citizen of the United States.  As a recovering Catholic, I have wrestled with my unease with religious indoctrination so much to the point that I, for much of my young adulthood, abandoned any type of religious affiliation, relying on my own philosophical interpretation of the world to help me navigate my way through the ebbs and flows of life. No more complex than another human being, I have had my share of highs and lows, euphoria and depression, gains and losses. At times I have felt deprived, while others, sated.  I look back at my life and find myself in awe, carefully examining every turning point, every opportunity for growth.

I am a proud single mother, a risk taking entrepreneur, a lover of animals and nature.  I am also an aspiring psychic medium.  By Forrest Gumping my way to heightened states of altered consciousness, I often coin myself an “accidental psychic.” My life, up to this point, has been a series of resistance.  As an unwilling psychic, I found myself turning away from the unexplainable, ignoring signs from my spirit guides, going against my intuition and questioning ones who were exploring their honest relationship with themselves.  Despite my resistance, I came to the realization that life flows much smoother when I move with the current instead of against.  When I removed skepticism, doubts and fears, the world beyond what we see and can logically rationalize opened up to me in wondrous bloom.  Like Gem, I am just starting on my journey to becoming a rockstar psychic. I am hooked.   There is no turning back.  Full speed ahead.  We invite you on our astral travels and share with you how we got here – the trials and tribulations, the soaring feats of wonder and the painful bruises after miscalculated setbacks.  We hope you learn alongside us as we explore the different modalities available to enhance psychic ability.  Use us as inspiration, a catalyst for your own spiritual development.  We all have our own unique paths to follow.  If your journey involves understanding and improving psychic development, less us serve as lighthouses, helping to guide your way.
